Jairam Ramesh On Mani Shankar Aiyar Remark: There has been a political uproar over the comments of Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar. Speaking to news agency ANI, the Congress general secretary said, “Who is Mani Shankar Aiyar? He is not an official, he is a former MP and former minister. He can say whatever he wants in his personal capacity. We have nothing to do with it. The media, BJP’s troll army and social media keep running it. Today he has nothing to do with the Congress party. He is in the Congress party, but he is not even an MP, he is just a former MP.”

He also said, “Manishanker Aiyar has unconditionally apologized for his alleged attack statement and the party has nothing to do with his statement. The party dissociates itself from his original statement.”

Point to be noted is that Lok Sabha Elections The last round of voting is to be held on June 1. Before this last round of voting, Mani Shankar Aiyar’s controversial statement was again made. Mani Shankar Aiyar said during a program organized in Delhi that in 1962 the Chinese had ‘allegedly’ attacked India.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said on this issue that Mani Shankar Aiyar later apologized unconditionally for mistakenly using the term ‘alleged attack’. Jairam Ramesh also cited Mani Shankar Aiyar’s increasing age during this time. Jairam Ramesh said that the Chinese invasion of India that started on 20 October 1962 was real. However, he also said that in early May 2020, there was Chinese intrusion in Ladakh, in which 20 of our soldiers were martyred and the status quo was disrupted.

He further said that however, the outgoing Prime Minister publicly gave a clean chit to the Chinese on 19 June 2020, which severely weakened our negotiating position. 2000 sq km area including Depsang and Demchok has become out of range of Indian troops.
